Discarded technology as a sculptural medium is at the core of this body of work. These broken parts are brought back to life through artmaking. These materials no longer have power, so I place my energy into transforming them into something new. In this way, these objects are recontextualized into an art space, where an audience is implored to look more closely, and even interact, at this sea of strange creatures that seem familiar but foreign at the same time.
Throughout this process, I have kept with the same subject matter in an attempt to push it to its maximum potential, delving into drawing, photography and installation. As a sculptural medium, technology is relatively new and uncommon which is also why it sparks my curiosity. However, the works of Heinrich Minnie and Edward Burtynsky have been very influential when exploring the idea of real and imagined spaces in an urban landscape. Although the works I have created are small in size, it has allowed me to get to know the material and has served as a way of understanding the medium in a more tactile manner.
